Re: DVD unlocking region question

I wouldn't claim to be an expert in this, but if your region 1 DVD disk is playing in a region 2 DVD player, then your player must have been made region free (or perhaps set to region 1). The region coding restrictions are designed to stop disks being played, i.e. you should just see a screen telling you that the disk will not play in your machine.

The problem with the disk playing only in black and white (assuming that it is a colour film) is due to interface problems between your DVD player and television. Are you using a scart lead between the two? Does your television support NTSC playback? Does your television have a scart socket that is RGB compatable? Have you set the DVD player to Auto or Pal50 or (better) Pal60 conversion?
