Thanks for the advice. I ended up buying an amplified composite splitter at Radio shack and a Y cable at Circuit City because the guy said it would do the same job. I tested them head to head with 3 foot cables on either side and found there was a marked difference between them. The amplified splitter looked the same as if I hooked the VCR directly to the TV. The Y cable had very noticeable degredation in the picture. I hope this helps someone else.
