Sony XBR Wega Vertical Compression

Hi,

Does anyone know if the vertical compression on the XBR Wega can be turned on/off manually? It senses anamorphic DVDs and turns on compression automatically but when I hook my Canon MiniDV camcorder up and play back video shot in anamorphic mode, the Sony does not sense this and does not compress. The cancorder images are still stretched.
