Re: Subwoofer control with the Paradigm X-30

I have been trying to decide how I was going to hook up our new M&K MX-125mkII sub (arriving any day now!) when I happened upon your post. This looks possible for us, although our current system is nowhere near the level of yours.

We have a Marantz SR-8000 receiver with Canton Ergo 92 DC speakers (mains). The speakers are nearly full range towers, which confuses the issue when adding a subwoofer. The usual solution is to set all speakers to "small" and let the sub handle the rest plus LFE. I find that the subs become too directional in these cases.

The Ergo 92's just sound so damn good to us that I really don't want to cut them off at 80-100Hz. Your solution here would allow us to run them full-range and use the X-30 to "fill-in" the bottom with the MX-125, which only has 50Hz as it's lowest filtering point. (I think the X-30 goes down to 35Hz.)

With the LFE out to one sub input and the "filtered" main L/R to the other sub input, this looks like a reasonably good compromise at adding a subwoofer for both HT and music.
