The only other combo that I liked and have heard though it might kill you in the cost of interconnects is the Denon DD (can't remember the exact model) and the Millenium DTS. I know that you can find the Denon every now and then at SpiderGear as a refurb for about 200-300 and the Millenium used for under 300 at the various sites. Of course were talking about 12 interconnects and two digital cables as well which to me makes the Technics look like a much better deal (have it hooked up to my Denon 2400). Hope this helps.
