It sounds like you've found the problem from your response to Victor, but you might try turning everything else off. My Theta Jade transport puts out an enormous amount of RF (?). I use rabbit ears for the TV and when the Jade is fired up it completely wipes out one channel and puts distortion in the others. It only affects broadcasts tho, not tapes.
