HT newbie: do I have this right?

152.163.197.52

My 1st HT experience and it feels like I'm over my head. Looking to set-up something for rental videos for the kids. I'm mostly a 2 channel guy. I live in an apartment building where u need to wire a coaxial to the master antenna for a TV signal.

I have:

Rotel RC980 pre
Rotel RB980BX amp
Denon AVR1400
Sony hifi VHS
Snell D
Phase Tech 2.5
20" Toshiba

On the audio side I wire the Rotels together in normal 2 channel config. The pre-outs from the Denon are then wired to the aux of the Rotel pre-amp. The Snells are wired to the Rotel pre-amp.

On the video side the TV signal goes from the master antenna to the Sony VHS. The signal then is sent via rca to the Denon. From the Denon monitor out the signal does to the Toshiba.

My questions:

where are the Phase Techs wired to? the Denon's rear channels?

if the kids want to just watch a vhs tape do they have to turn on the Denon to pass the signal to the Toshiba?

if the kids just want to watch videos w/o the Denon don't i need to send the audio from the Sony VHS directly to the Toshiba?

I was going to not use a center channel since the Snells are 5 feet apart and 2 feet on other side of the Toshiba. I imagine I can simply set the Denon to Phantom Center?

Please SLOWLY and SPECIFICALLY go thru the set-up for me and explain it's operation. I apologize for my obvious "dunder-headness". I want u all to know that I've rebuilt engines, installed kitchens, edited films and have run PTA meetings. For some darn reason, I'm having a hard time putting all of these elements together.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Be well.

Robo
