Re: DirectTv vs. DISH - picture quality ?

I've been looking at the two systems also. I live in Los Angeles, and Direct TV seems to be the dominate format.

I noticed that not all the local channels are available, unfortunately especially UPN which carries Star Trek. I have found suprising little technical knowledge in the sales people pushing this equipment.

One thing though I learned yesterday was there will be a combined Direct TV/TiVO(sp?) receiver out in a couple of months. I decided to live with my terrible cable (digital cable from Charter Communications - sucks) for a couple of months. I like the idea of those two functions combined.

I'd be very interested in any insights you have as to DISH vs Direct TV, including what manufacturer's equipments you like, feature and cost comparisons, etc.

Good luck.
Anything's got to be better than cable.
