Loewe Planus...

63.225.127.72

got my Loewe Planus today, and I must say this TV has a spacious, panoramic screen, alive and natural like a film screen. got this one for $2375, die to playing the waiting game and a little competition playing. these are being discontinued here in US, being replaced apparently a flat screen, high def version that supposedly will set one back $4k. i was a bit skeptical about the "super flat line tube" as I came from a Sony Wega, but I must say it really does offer about as little curvature w/o being totally flat as possible. one thing the salesman told me about wegas was about the lack of true flatness of the picture lines, so as I was checking out the 32" Wega XBR, I did notice that (being in letterbox mode) the image boundary on the top line was dipping downward quite badly...not so with the Loewe. on cable viewing, switching to Cinema mode crops just a bit off the top and bottom in order to fill the entire screen w/ image, very nice! there are also other modes: 16:9, 4:3, and zoom, giving you basically all the options you need. the picture is controlled via a sophisticated digital system w/ software, obviously allowing you to see the great Loewe image. if you're in the market, now's the time since supposedly the stock is thinning...
