? on center-channel speaker placement

63.38.205.136

I'd like to use an ACI Emerald(shielded mini-monitor, rear-ported, 11"h, 7"w, 7"d)on its side as a center-channel speaker. Is it acceptable to place it just above the TV in an enclosed cabinet area of 14"w x 10"h x 24"d? I'm kind of locked in to this position since the cabinet is custom and permanent. The front- and rear-channels are away from cabinet and wall boundaries. I think I'll like the Emerald because it seems to closely match the voicing and design of my fronts (VA Bachs), but I'm a little concerned about the port in an enclosed shelf. Would a sealed-box design work any better in this application?
