Yamaha 5240 vs. 496??

Hi all. Most of the discussions here concern audio equipment far surpassing my college budget. I'm hoping some of you can answer this question, even though these are lower end models.
I've been going over web sites and reviews, and I can NOT seem to find the difference between the Yamaha RX-V496 and the Yamaha HTR-5240... They look a little different, and some specs. list a slight difference in wattage output.. but they both seem to be entirely from different model lines, yet they do the same thing and are basically the same price. Interestingly, I've never seen the two models sold together at the same place. What am I missing here? Not even the Yamaha web site notes any differences... in fact, the descriptions for them are identical.
People on audioreview.com have reviewed both models over the same time period, from june till october.. so it doesn't seem like they just changed the model name either... I'm a bit confused, and I'm not sure if I should be.
