Adding progressive scan to DVD

I have a Pioneer DV-05 Elite player. I would like to convert to progressive scan, but it seems the only "upgrade" is the MSB at close to $700! I like the unit, and a similar Pioneer (the DV-37) is $1K. Do I have any other options?
