This will shorten the life of your unit dramatically so do not try to enclose the unit. The fan noise can bug you but the solution here works fine. As well as a hood open both ends (and side "windows" for air input) I put a baffle board behind the projector BUT allowed a good space for air flow first so there is a gap before the air hits the baffle board and cqan flow freely. I would not waste time with felt etc as it will do little to help with the noise and could impede air flow inside the cabinet. Our projector is a BARCO but the ideas above are universal.
