Hi, I'm rewiring my home and would like to know how much power is enough to run a small home theater. I know itâ€™s hard to say without seeing the equipment, but I'm looking for a ballpark guess.
I'll have an A/V receiver (6x 100 whatts), 36" direct view TV, VCR, dvd player, 5 speakers, a powered sub, and a satellite receiver.
I asked an electrician if I should wire the wall where it will be going with 2 20-amp circuits, and he thought that would be overkill. He suggested 1 20-amp circuit for the complete theater.
If anyone has any ideals or could tell me if they really don't seem to have enough power for what they are running, I would appreciate it. What would be the best configuration for the outlets? How many outlets would be a good number? Also an idea of how to wire. For instance, if I do have 2 circuits, would the A/V receiver take up the majority of one circuit because it draws the most power?
