Boss Wants $2000 HT Speaker Recommendation - Help Needed ASAP!

Hi:
My department director heard that I am into audio equipment and asked me for a recommendation for a $2000 home theater speaker set-up including front, center and rear channel speakers plus a subwoofer. I didn't tell him that I am mostly into vintage audio equipment (about as far away from HT as you can get) and besides, I thought I could handle it. Well, it's not as easy as I thought, so that's why I am posting this question here.
Does anybody have any recommendations? It can be either a one-brand package or a combination of different brands. The only key thing is that he will be using the front speakers for two channel audio about 50% of the time, so he would like those to be as good as possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated even if it's just pointing me to the right place to look. Thanks!
