direct view tv vs. RPTV any insights?

considering a new tv. what are the pros and cons of direct view (tube) tv vs a rear projection model?

considering sony xbr 36" vs Toshiba 43" RPTV or perhaps 40"Wide RPTV.

what are your thoughts, or where can I go to get more information on the debate.
