Home theater suggestions?

Hey gang,
I want to take full advantage of my DVD player - I have about $2000 to spend. Should I get a larg screen (widescreen) TV or a projector. If there is a preference one of you might have, which would you recommend. Keep in mind, I would most likely get a projector from one of the online auctions, such as UBID, so at least it would be cheaper. Are they better than Widescreen TVs?
As far as Widescreen TVs go, I don't need the HDTV or digital, just analog Widescreen with inputs for a DVD player. I know they're rare...any ideas?
