Are geometry problems more inherent in 36" televisions?

63.38.146.218

I've recently had some problems finding a 36" set. Unfortunately, the store I was buying from sent me "4" defect sets(2 JVC and 2 Panasonic) with picture slant, pincushioning, and other problems not inherent to picture quality.

I have finally received another JVC AV-36D201 set. Everything so far seems pretty good with a great detailed picture. I'm troubled as it seems to have minor geometry troubles, but highly noticable to me. The left top corner bends down and the right bottom corner bends upward slightly, but noticably with letter box and other straight line objects. The picture does NOT seem to be tilted as vertical lines(from Video Essentials test pattern)along the edges, seem parrallel(with slight warp).

I have a '93 27" JVC television and the geometry is about perfect. I also have a new 13" TV where the geometry isn't near as bad as the big 36".

Is it that quality control is just thrown out the door now a days, or is it common for these big 36" sets to have more geometry problems than smaller sets? I originally had a 32" Sony TV(S-series) that gave me all kinds of problems. However, it's geometry was pretty good,"except" at the top two corners where the image warped inward.

I'm so frustrated! Hopefully some of you can shed some light on the subject since I really never dealt with geometry problems before.

THANKS!!
