Pioneer DV-37 -- trouble playing CDs?

208.28.2.2

Does anyone have experience with the Pioneer DV-37 playing red book CDs? I recently purchased a DV-37 and have found that it has trouble playing certain CDs. And the trouble that is has is different from regular old CD skipping. What happens is, on certain tracks, it will play a few minutes into a song and then actually skip back a full minute or two in the same song. I've never encountered this phenomenon before.

The odd thing is, these CDs look perfect (clean, no scratches) to the naked eye and play fine on my other CD players. However, I have a few CDs that are badly scratched that will not play properly on at least one of my other players but they play fine on the DV-37. (The reason I mention this is that it would seem to indicate to me that the DV-37's error correction capabilities are not necessarily lacking.)

Thoughts/opinions?

Thank you.
