Sharp LC-PD50U Plasma Q's???

I viewed one of the Sharp LC-PD50U plasma displays the other day. Is there another brand or model that will portray a more natural picture?
What I mean is, in the same size screen at less money than 12K?
I was amazed at the color depth and clarity. The Sharp had the best picture in the shop, and was the only plasma there. Source was a mid-line Toshiba DVD ($600)
I plan to buy within the next year and would consider paying $6-7K, maybe more..... What brand would you suggest I look at or look forward to viewing?
I have a 42" Mitsubishi projection which has been repaired once (for $200.00) in ten years since new. It was the near top of the line SOTA back then, and the reliability amazes me.
Any words concerning above appreciated.
