Re: dirt cheap DVD players

I'll tell you man, if you are at all inclined to modify a player, pick up an Apex DVD-660. It's like $149 AND a $20 rebate at Circuit City! My DV-05 blew up, so I bought this to get by, and now I am keeping it!
Since I modified it, it sounds sweet!, and has an almost 3-D picture!

All I did was replace all the plastic standoffs internally with brass ones, and loosen ALL the screws about half a turn so that they just touch the boards. Make sure you put it on spikes too, like 3 on bottom.

Also, take off the feet on the bottom, and just use some spikes touching the metal chassis. Make sure it's level! Brass spikes are better. Check out www.needledoctor.com for some called Molly Toes which are good, and really inexpensive!

You'll be surprised at this cheap player. AND it plays MP3!
