Vertical Line problem on DVD only

Okay, here's the situation:
Loewe Calida TV
Panasonic DVD-RV80
Pioneer CLD-S201
Generic Composite Cable
Harmonic Tech S-Video cable
Generic S-Video cable
Monster HTS-1000 power conditioner
When I watch DVDs, I readily notice a vertical top-to-bottom line (almost like an indentation) which shows up about 1/5 in from the right side of the screen. This anomaly is present but not as obvious when watching laserdiscs. The line is noticeable regardless of S-Video cable used, regardless of DVD (granted, in some scenes the bar is more visible than in others).
a) What is causing this and
b) How do I get rid of this line?
