PLASMA TV OWNERS: How reliable are these TV's?

I would appreciate input mainly from Plasma TV OWNERS...
I have heard that if/when one or more pixels go OUT, there is no way to repair them. This concerns me, but I don't really know how often this occurs, or how apparent it is if a few pixels bite the dust.
Please describe your experience as an owner of this technology. Can one reasonably expect 5 to 10+ years of trouble free enjoyment? I would hope so, given the expense of these sets!
