Re: Outlets in new Home Theatre room

When we built this home I thought it was all planned out with more outlets than you could shake a stick at + cable in the walls for 7.1 sound. BUT, I underestimated the mania and did not allow for powered electrostatic side speakers (and were those outlets a pain in the butt to instal later!) and changed the rears so cable going to the shelves was inappropriate. I also had conduit in the slab to allow for cabling to come up through the floor but it ended up not exactly where it turned out to be neatest, was not large enough and two were insufficient for later developments. Now there are so many holes though the 7 inch slab it is like swiss cheese. I later used other cabling so the some of stuff installed in the walls was redundant.

Moral: Do your best to plan ahead but you can never really expect to cover all future twists of this mania for which there seems no cure. BTW if you have not done so already allow for a projector in your video future and have framing & cabling prepared.

Good luck

John
