digital volume on DVD players?

I have a question that is probably futile, but are there any DVD players out there that have digital volume controls? I have a very nice stereo and I almost NEVER watch movies at all. However, it would be nice to have surround sound for when I do....
So the idea is this. I don't want to buy a receiver, I just want to buy a DVD player with a built-in Dolby Digital decoder and send the line level outputs to my various amps. I used to have a CD player with a digital volume control, it only seems logical that a DVD player with that feature would exist...
Any ideas?
