I would say it is the the output signal or the input jack itself!
I have a 50' run from my receiver to my TV and the picture could not be cleaner and sharper... i spent 50 dollars on the cable!
no doubt that S-video is WAY better than composite!
your problem lies elsewhere (IMO). does it happen on another S-video input on the TV or have you not tried it?
