Thanks for you response. I can see the dust on the outside of the actual lens which is inside a clear glass/plastic cover which preculudes cleaning of the lens. I will try to call Sharp but there is not a service center near Santa Fe, NM where I live and I didn't keep the box. Thanks again for the advice. Joe Fagan
