I too have mine in an entertainment center type enclosure with about 1" to spare on each side. I looks great (except for the silver trim), but like you say, the bass is "boomy", and tends to rattle nick nacks all over my entertainment center. I have mostly used it through my AV amp and my surround system, so it is not much of a problem... I bought the Panasonic DVDRP56 progressivs scan DVD, and am pleased with the output. Again, I am not a videophile, and the only other option was a Sony progressive scan model, but I hated the silver color (all of my other components are black). A silly reason to make a decision, but I probably couldn't tell the difference in quality, if any, anywany!
