It is recommended...

that you stay away from LCD due to numerous faults relative to CRT projectors. If you absolutely must have an LCD, make sure you get one that is designed in such a way that dust cannot get on the LCD panels. This is not trivial. If dust gets on the panels (it will unless the panel design is sealed), it gets projected on your screen, ruining your picture. You'll need to send the unit in for cleaning. Some LCD projectors (Sony) don't have this design flaw, but check to make sure about specific models.
