The most common cause of the ripple patterns is RF interference from strong FM signals. Is there an FM transmitter near your new dwelling?

If FM interference is the cause, you can get an "FM Block" from Radio Shack that will reduce (but not eliminate) the problem. Also, it's possible that your VCR's RF modulator has poor RFI rejection in the FM band. FM frequencies are situated around channel 6 on VHF band (a reason why you never see channel 6 stations). Did you set your VCR to modulate to CH 3 or CH 4? Try changing this setting.

You may want to borrow a friend's VCR and see if there is any difference.
