How do I make a home-made TV degausser?

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

I used to work for a TV repairman that made his own. All I remember is that is was loops of insulated wire in about an 18" circle wraped with electrical tape. The loop was about 1 inch in diameter. It also had an on/off switch on the cord.
Is there a a certain guage wire and how many loops?
