Been researching this area since my trusty five year old computer started acting up. Some pretty interesting developments on the PC side.
Suggest people check out Soundblaster and ATI sites for info. It's now quite feasible to order a HTPC with HD capability, support for multiple monitors & TV (ex: one monitor for work, another for movies, surfing the net, etc.), Dolby Digital decoding and DTS pass through, recordable DVD's, TIVO functionality, etc.
Pretty exciting stuff. Has anyone taken the plunge and hooked their PCs into their home theaters.
