I had the same problem with cable myself. My solution was to get the Toshiba DST3000 STB & UHF antenna. I was able to pull in all 3 digital stations in Pittsburgh. My TV is HD so I also scored there.
Although you would not be able to connect thru component video(it passes 1080i only) you could connect with S-Video & recieve 480i digital signal. Some of the other STB's do pass 480i signal thru component video...check the Sony SATHD100. I watch programming thru both outputs. I use Monster3 S-Video interconnects & I must say the picture is great. So the simple answer to your question is yes you could "pull" in digital signal with an STB which converts it to an Analog signal.
