Cablevision IO

24.46.196.206

Just yesterday got hooked up to Cablevision's new digital service - IO they call it. Very disatisfied with the quality so far, and wondering if anyone else here has any similiar experience. I decided to change over from my Dish network satellite dish to digital cable, with the benefit being an Optimum Online PC connection. It saves me a phone line, and AOL fees if it works out, and the programming between the cable and the dish is pretty much a wash.

Here's the problem - I should have expected this, but it doesn't seem as though the cable is capable of transmitting a stream of info fast enough. My signal keeps 'freezing', as though the pause button was hit, the video and audio lock up for a second or two, then they jump forward to catch up with the program. I had the same sort of digital artifacts with the satellite system, but very rare, and usually only in a heavy storm. The cable signal is lagging and freezing up on me every few minutes, and it continues for however long the program is viewed. A tech or service rep was supposed to call me back last night, but never did - typical cable service, too, from what I've heard. Is this typical, or is it something that they can fix. If this is the best signal they can provide, I'll return it and go back to my satellite system. Has anyone else experienced the same? Is there anything that can be done to correct it?

Thanks,
Mike
