I did a quick test of the analog pass through. I ran the output of an SACD player through it. The results were *not* good. It definitely was not transparent, and added fair amount of high frequency harshness, in effect, wiping out most of the advantages of the SACD format.

Note that my testing was done using a $3000 Stax electrostatic headphone/amp where I could easily switch between the two sources (through Anthem and direct). Your mileage with less transparent equipment may vary.
