Hello to you all .
I have some interesting problem that I would like to share and may be hear your opinion .
I'm using Onkyo TX-DS 939 which connected with SVHS cable to a Toshiba
2109 DVD.
Also a Toshiba TV is connected via SVHS cable to the monitor out SVHS
connector on the receiver.
Two weeks ago I noticed some strange noises from the center speaker when the DVD OSD is turned on, or when the subtitle appears during a movie .(Only if it's a white subtitle -the noise does not happen with yellow subtitle).
The longer the subtitle line is, the bigger the noise is.
I thought it's from the TV so I disconnected it
completely from the receiver. No luck, the problem didn't go away.
Even with no picture (Tv is off anf disconnected from the receiver)
I could tell when there is a subtitle line.
I connected the DVD to a different source of power, no luck.
I tried to use the lines inputs instead of the digital, same strange
noise.
Now, I checked it with no audio at all,
only Svhs cable from DVD to the receiver,(TV still disconnected)
Problem persist, I checked all SVHS inputs, (1-7)in the receiver
Still no luck, also replaced all video cable , and rewired my center speaker. No luck.
I even tried to reset my receiver, Problem persist.
I also checked with all surrounds modes. The only mode that there was no noise from the center was the Stereo mode,(but off course, no center on stereo mode so this isn't count).
I must say, the noise is coming only from the center speaker.
I checked with another DVD (player) still the same noise .
Noticed that: This is really strange !!!
When I'm using Composite cable from the DVD to the receiver , the
problem disappears.
I just can't figure this out. What am I missing?
I'm using the same configuration for a year or so, ( I upgraded with DTS internal card 3 month ago )but that was the only change was made. This noise is new and it just came two weeks ago .
I don't think it's related to the DTS upgrade .
There is no way I didn't hear this right after the upgrade .
What do you think ? Is something really bad happening inside my
receiver ? Someone told me that it might
Be a problem with the gain control in the video circuit of the receiver .
I already contact Onkyo , but they are all in holiday .
They promised to look into it after the holiday .
I would like to hear your opinion , or similar problems if you had.
(I know that this problem is related to RF connections , but no such thing in My configuration ).
