DVD interference with antenna tv

I just purchased a new DVD (Teac DV=M5000) and a new TV (JVC with component input). When I plug the DVD into the wall, whether or not it is turned on, I get severe interference on my two tv's. I am not on cable. Teac tech says that all DVD's will create interference on a tv connected to an antenna. The only way to avoid this is to unplug the DVD from a power source or subscribe to cable. Is this true?
