Recording Satellite Dish Program & Watching Regular TV??

I am trying to record a satellite Dish program and watch regular TV at the same time. Needless to say, it's not working (why I'm here). Can it be done? I'm also having trouble recording a regular TV program while trying to watch another channel. Can anyone help with this? Please!
What I have? Yammaha Receiver; Sony DVD, Sony Wega TV, JVC VCR, RCA Satellite Dish. No cable TV, just an antenna coming in from outside.
