manufacturers' horizontal MTM was a compromise to widen the sound to the size of the screen & keep the tweeter as close to the screen as possible. The resulting artefacts eminating from dual horizontal sources were deamed unavoidable. They still do it today because a vertical MTM would displace the tweeter to far away.

FWIW, I think my fvorite solution was a planar speaker that doubled as a projection screen.

In my bedroom, I'm making a myown compromise with a WMW. My "M" is a coincidental Advent 4.0i surrounded by 2 "W" Ultimate PW1050s. The inherent problems with dual sources are a function of wavelength of the sound waves. So, I'm hoping that this'll be the nuts. I went Advent because I've got these obsolete speakers in my fronts (4.6i) & to be rears (6.9i). If I'd be starting from scratch I'd
look into Eclipse.
