My first DVD player

131.136.242.1

I'm buying my first DVD player. Some background. It needs to be entry level(300-400 $US, 500-600 $CND). The player must be competent at extracting music from conventional CDs (acting as source for secondary audio system). Built in DD decoding is not necessary, already have an HK AVR55 DD receiver. Lastly, I'm trying to avoid all the nasty glitches I've read about in Audio Review concerning audio drop out, audio sync problems etc...
TV set is a 27inch SONY Trinitron 'S' series . Currently considering entry
level SONY, TOSHIBA or PANASONIC. Any and all suggestions welcome.
