My question concerned the effect of resolution enhancement of a DVD on a digital (HDTV) display. Line doubling is simple to understand and the result is clearly beneficial. Can someone explain to me what is going on when a DVD player has a "progressive scan" output that is fed to an HDTV? Why would that be higher resolution than the 500 lines?
