Recalcirant disc reading Philip's 963 SA ?

Last week I found my Philips DVD 963 SA with a DVD(not centered in the tray) jammed in the drawer which was partially closed, I hit open and removed it.
It plays CD's, SACD's just fine, but when I watch a film (DVD) it spens an intermidable amount of time trying to read the disc, then opens if I persist and or start trying various modes and remote settings eventually it will come up, I've tried blowing air in the unit (compressed air in the can) and using a Scotch brand disc cleaner several times to no avail.
Any idea's on where to look what to do ?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
