Re: Opinions on combo HT / business presentation projectors

HI,
Great post.
I have noticed that the recent crop of 'Budget'Projectors has really grown in the marketplace and prices are dropping all the time.
As for quality i think some models would be ideal for home use as long as they have component video input or dvi.

The lumens and contrast ratio has also been increased, I paid $7000 for a Sanyo unit when the market was fairly new for home cinema use.
Compared to modern day equivelants it has far less Lumens brightness and is huge in size.

I have owned 3 types of modern projectors including ones from INFOCUS and Sharp.
The Infous LP720 was an old unit but i had great results from it.
I guess resolution and bulb life are the key features to look for,
Talking of bulb life i did manage to mod the infoucs projector by taking the original bulb and its holder out,Then replaced it with a standard 100 what halogen house light and transformer.
Then i added a playstation 1 heatsink to the lamp housing and this gave 2000 hrs bulb life for $3.

The picture is pretty good aswell.
If you like diy projectors there is a great site on the net:
www.lumenlab

I think the current market for sub $1500 projectors is pretty good for office or home, Infact the office type may have slightly upper hand in being able to handle higher resolutions for the pc or laptop presentations so dvd would look cool.?
