HSU Home Theatre speakers?

Who has heard the HSU systems? What did you think? What else is out there for the same do-re-mi?
I am leaning on buying the VTF 2 plus the 5 speaker Ventriloquist system to upgrade my home theatre. I already have a separate high end audio system (VAC, MF Tri-Vista, Merlin/RELs) so audio is of little to no consideration. I am no videophile, but I do want a decent "audio for video" system and I have size limitations for the satellites/subs. The HSU's would replace a decent but way-too-large Paradigm Atom/Titan system.
The rest of the system is a Toshiba DLP, a Sony 333 ES receiver, and a Technics DVD A10 player. My price limitation is about $700.
