here's a suggestion

Try those hints again, but go through the motions deliberately (slowly and precisely). The reason I say this is because I was not able to get my Bravo D1 to enter the Region/Macrovision settings menu on the first few tries. After the third try, I was able to make it Region free and turn off Macrovision. Sounds silly, but it worked.

It's possible that new or different firmware is used in the mkII version. That doesn't mean that it can't be made Macrovision/Region free, but maybe just not the same way that the original player can be set. Do some searches on the 'net and maybe you'll come across the right process.
