I have been sitting on the side lines waiting for the next generation of AV gear compatible with high definition TV.
Below is a link to Sony's new High Definition DVRs. Both of these units have HDMI output.
Of course, what we need now are these units with built-in DVD recorders, but that decision is further down the road, depending on how the blu-ray vs. HD-DVD battle sorts out (I know there are talks between the two camps, so if we're lucky, the road may be shorten).
Perhaps cable and/or satellite TV may already be working on HD DVRs that are quite bit cheaper with subscription. But I'm not into cable or satellite at this point.
