Hooking a computer to a HD set... (quite an involved question!)

Hey there all!

I just picked up Sony KF42we620 and am interested in hooking up my computer to it. I was given a cable that has a hookup for a monitor out on the back of a computer and what appears to be 3 standard rca plugs on the other- coloured red, blue and green.

Upon hooking this cable up to both the computer and either of the Sony's HD component inputs, all I get is a picture that kinda resembles scrambled cable- basically just a bunch of dots and lines (thats what they look like to me). The component inputs on this set support 480I, 480P, 720P and 1080I. Do I need another type of cable to do this or is there a setting in the computer that I've missed? Or is it a little more indepth than this?

I don't want to use the HD's single DVI input, as I'm saving that for an HDTV satellite receiver...

HELP...TIA

Cheers,
Dman
