I'm using one, it works great

I'm using a REL Strata III in my music/HT 5.1 setup, and it's fantastic. I didn't feel like messing with the speaker-level inputs and the lfe channel, so i'm only running an rca interconnect from the pre-amp to the strata. Caveat: i was much more concerned about music performance in this set-up, I don't watch very many action movies and I'm not a bass freak, so I wasn't concerned about rattling my fillings out with 2hz tones during vin diesel movies.

I owned an SVS sub before, and while it was a great sub for demo-ing the Pod Race scene from Star Wars, it was slow, boomy, and inarticulate on with music. My experience with the SVS led me to look at music first, HT second when putting together my new system.

hope that helps!
