Help. I searched the archives and came up empty. I am trying to find a universal remote control with a "home theater" one button feature to control the following items:
1. Onkyo TX SR 701 A/V receiver.
2. Philips/Magnavox tv.
3. Philips/Magnavox DVD player.
4. DirecTV satellite receiver (brand new).
5. RCA hi-fi VCR (old).
Additionally, I would like the capacity to expand to include a TiVo, or other DVR recorder.
The problem that I run into with the "blister pack" remotes is that the Onkyo has seperate "on/off" commands, requiring two different functions. In fact, the "off" function is called "standby". This confuses the cheap remotes.
My viewing habits are straightforward; I am pretty much a "set & forget it" type of viewer. I am not that interested in duplicating every single function of every single original remote. I really need power functions for all components, volume/mute for the Onkyo, transport features for the DVD & VCR, and the complete DirecTv menu, channel, & program guide functions. It would be nice to control the surround & DSP modes as well on the receiver. High WAF is necessary.
Budget is about $150.00, but I will go higher if necessary.
