Sony SXRD 50" and Blue Ray

I read somewhere that the Sony SXRD 50" TV does not support Blue Ray.
I don't understand this as it is a 1080p set with 1920x1080 resolution.

Why not?

I also understand that the new A2000 series SXRD sets will support Blue Ray and they will be out soon.

I sure like the picture of the current 50" SXRD set.
